In March 2026 I was lucky enough to do a giant Scandinavia Interrail. This was an unbelievable journey which spanned across three countries and accumulated nearly 2,000 miles in total. Needless to say, it was an adventure. Our journey began though at the beautiful Coco Hotel in Copenhagen, one which I really wanted to review. If you didn’t know, the Coco Hotel has actually won various awards. These include Traveller’s Choice and also have been recognised by Travel and Leisure Magazine as the “Best Hotel in Scandinavia”.
Whilst we only stayed here for a short amount of time, I can confirm that the hype for this place is real. Here is what I found from our little trip to this charming boutique in Copenhagen.
The Coco Hotel Copenhagen | My Quick Review
Location of the Coco Hotel
The Coco Hotel is not in the Old Town of Copenhagen. In fact, to get to the iconic dock, you’ll need to walk four around 15 minutes.
However, with this slight issue does come some really big pros. Firstly, you are not in the epicentre of tourism chaos. The Old Town of Copenhagen gets incredibly busy on weekends and during the school holidays. It isn’t anything like a Venice-level, but it is still unpleasant at peak times. This means that you can easily walk into the commotion, but also retreat to take a break when you need to.
For people who also love Interrailing, the Coco Hotel is right by the station. It was fantastic to be able to run to our hotel after catching a train and just flop within 10 minutes after leaving the platform. This also makes it perfect for taking day trips such as the nearby castles of Fredriksborg and Kronborg.
Lastly, the area around Coco is a little bit more residential. This means that you can easily find some great, local restaurants which are away from the majority of the tourists. You have Delphine just over the road, and you are not too far from the vibey Meat-Packing District.

The Room
We stayed in a Small Double Room. What I would immediately say though is that is didn’t feel small. In fact, it was larger than a lot of the other hotels which advertise a Standard Double.
Either way, with what it lacked in size it more than made up with in character. The hallway just outside was incredibly vibrant; think eccentric colours for carpets and extremely modern furnishings. This is continued inside the room. I genuinely felt like I was in a modern Parisian hotel rather than in Copenhagen; the room looked lovely and was incredibly stylish. The soft furnishings were also good and the bedding was certainly a high-quality. Alike most German hotels, having two duvets in a double is very much ‘a thing’ in Scandinavia.
The bathroom was also quite sizeable and featured a walk-in shower. I thought that it was a good size and was again modern and newly done.

The Bar & Cafe
On the ground floor is the Coco Hotel bar. This serves drinks and snacks up until late and was our favourite place to come back to. It continues with the extremely stylish decor of the rooms and is a lovely place to kick back and relax.
The food at the bar comes from the restaurant next door. We didn’t eat at the restaurant formally but, if the bar food is anything to go by, we really should have. In the evenings we would order nibbles and toasties, and these were genuinely excellent. I also thought that the prices here were much cheaper than the more touristy areas. In fact, a pint of beer only cost around £5.00 or so, whereas this was massively inflated at other nearby restaurants (you could even look at double this in some places).
Breakfast was not included. If you’ve read my 24 hours in Copenhagen post then you will know that there are just so many places to eat in the city. It did look fantastic and tasty, so it probably is worth it if you’re doing a day trip or don’t have time to hit the cafés (it costs 195 DKK per person, which at the time of writing is a little over £22).

The Service
In short, the service at the Coco Hotel was fantastic. The staff were always incredibly friendly and helpful and I couldn’t fault them on anything. Whilst we were there, a toaster actually set off the hotel’s fire alarm one morning, which actually brought in the fire brigade! The situation was handled incredibly well and was sorted very quickly.
The CoFoCo (Copenhagen Food Collective)
The Coco Hotel is part of the CoFoCo Group. There are plenty of different restaurants in the group and you’ll find them scattered across the city. All of them have their own specialities and range from classic Danish cuisine to other flavours from across the world.
What I would say though is that all of the CoFoCo restaurants we ate at were incredible. Delphine in particular really stood out to us and, whilst a bit pricey, the food was phenomenal. It was also just a short walk away from our hotel. We also really enjoyed Høst too, which specialises in classic Scandinavian flavours.
Top Tip: If you book directly through the Coco Hotel you can get a whopping 15% off of the bill at any of the 20 CoFoCo restaurants.

Final Thoughts | The Coco Hotel Copenhagen
The Coco Hotel is a fun and chic addition to the Copenhagen hotel collection. We absolutely loved our stay here and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to add a splash of colour and style to their stay in the Danish capital. Of course, make sure you book direct. The CoFoCo make up some of the best restaurants in the city and that 15% off will definitely help. Copenhagen is, after all, notoriously expensive!
